ABTA Uses EES and ETIAS Webinar to Prepare Members for Practical Border Changes
The travel trade was given direct access to the rollout discussion
ABTA said more than 190 members joined a webinar with European officials overseeing the rollout of EES and ETIAS. The association presented the session as a practical way to help travel businesses understand what the two systems would mean for customers and what questions were already emerging across the sector.
Operational concerns were a major part of the message
Alongside the information briefing, ABTA said it was continuing to raise concerns with the UK Government about the implementation of EES, especially the risk of delays and disruption at juxtaposed controls in Dover and at the international rail terminals. The association's position was that the industry needed early answers on how the new border process would work in the places most exposed to congestion.

More member and consumer guidance was promised next
ABTA said the webinar would be followed by a Q&A document in the Member Zone and by further information materials ahead of implementation. It also planned a dedicated public webpage so members could direct customers to consistent advice as EES and ETIAS moved closer.
